English Country Dance

English Country Dance (ECD) with transcendent calling by Joanna Reiner Wilkinson from Philadelphia and equally delightful live music by Jessie Boardman (Maine) & Daniel Raine 

Note the summery time change to early evening! The program begins with a very brief intro session to welcome those who are new to ECD.

Experience the delightful breadth of English dance repertoire: energetic and regal, frisky and deliberate, simple figures and slightly challenging sequences. Vive la différence!  

ECD is a folk tradition similar to our local contra culture, emphasizing both participatory dancing and live music, with partners and neighbors dancing together in a set. Contemporary English dancing has gorgeously varied music and smiling people, with choreography that feels like floating.
